Wirral’s very own Lucia Aliu (aged 7), is set to star in the new AppleTV series Hijack, produced by and starring Idris Elba and also in feature film Role Play, starring Bill Nighy and Kaley Cuoco.
Lucia is represented by London and MediaCityUK based talent agency, Scream Management. Born in Liverpool, before moving to Wirral, she is a pupil at Great Meols Primary and is currently training at Stagecoach Wirral, auditioning for the agency in 2021, at the age of six.
She has since been cast in high-profile TV shows, commercials, and feature films (including the recent commercial for Duracell).
Senior talent agent Jessica Bell saw Lucia’s potential and knew she had star quality. She started her acting career in 2022, aged 6, when she starred in Coronation Street as Maisy Wheatley, the daughter of Nicky Wheatley (played by Kimberly Hart-Simpson).
Since appearing in Coronation Street, Lucia has been filming concurrently for two amazing projects coming out this year (2023); Hijack (AppleTV) and feature film Role Play (StudioCanal and The Picture Company).
During filming, Lucia was travelling between Berlin and London, working on both projects concurrently, whilst being tutored on set.
Her roles in Hijack and Role Play were so different, with exciting storylines and diverse castings, Lucia succeeded in differentiating between characters with professionalism and charisma.
Despite her young age, Lucia has a CV mirroring that of a celebrity and is already taking the acting world by storm.
Hijack, is a seven-part TV thriller, starring and produced by Idris Elba, that follows the story of passengers flying from Dubai to London. During its seven-hour flight, the plane is hijacked by two men travelling to Paris who demand $125,000.
In the series, Lucia plays the daughter of David Miller (played by Marcus Garvey) and Kate Miller (played by Rochenda Sandall). Hijack is released on AppleTV on 28 June 2023.
In the movie Role Play, Lucia plays the daughter of the lead couple, Emma (played by Kaley Cuoco) and Dave (played by David Oyelowo) whose lives turn upside down when their pasts catch up on them. Bill Nighy also stars. Role Play is released later this year.
Lucia’s parents Victoria and David said, “We are incredibly proud of Lucia and her astounding achievements to date. Lucia has always been a huge bundle of energy with a pure enthusiasm for life, lighting up every room along her way; as parents, she inspires us every day.
“It comes as no surprise that Lucia is driving her dreams forward, she’s determined, resilient with an infectious passion for film. We are so excited for what the future brings on screen. Lucia is such an old soul brimming with quick wit and natural confidence. Lucia has kept us thoroughly entertained since she was born.
“She has always played/spoke in different accents, creating characters, shows… she truly has the wildest and most beautiful of imaginations. TV and film was never in doubt.
“We are so thankful for the wonderful team at Scream who have been Lucia’s sole and only agent since joining 18 months ago. Hijack is primed to be one of the best dramas of the year.
“Alongside the filming of Hijack Lucia was flying in between Germany and London to film ‘Role Play’ – 15 planes in 12 weeks, two completely different characters and two completely different accents, she delivered on every level. Our shining star navigating her way through these amazing adventures with a smile and cheekiest of laughs!”
Jessica Bell, senior talent agent from Scream Management said, “Lucia has done incredibly well in her career so far and we couldn’t be more of her achievements. She is so enthusiastic about the work she does and is always keen to take on new roles.”
