As part of preparations for the new season, a young Tranmere Rovers side will visit The Joseph Russell Stadium to take on Prescot Cables.
A Tranmere squad, expected to be an U18’s side, will face off against the Northern Premier League outfit, who finished ninth last term.
Rovers’ youth side commonly meet against Merseyside-based non-league side, whether it’s in a pre-season friendly or the Liverpool Senior Cup.
The Pesky Bulls are managed by Ste Daley and have announced three summer signings, including Jay McCarten from Bootle, Ste Milne from Skelmersdale United, and James Barrigan from Marine, and Cables boast some ex-Rovers youth player such as James Devine.
Currently in the Rovers youth system is striker Charlie Glennon, who lined out for Prescot Cables during the 2021-22 season and helped them stave off relegation to Step 8.
The last meeting between the two came in 2016, when Cables managed to topple Tranmere 2-1 in the Liverpool Senior Cup, and at the venue of this friendly.
The game will take place on Saturday, 22 July and is a 1pm kick-off.
