Women hurl homophobic abuse towards couple during violent assault on New Brighton train

British Transport Police (BTP) Officers investigating an assault on-board a train travelling between Liverpool Central and New Brighton have released images in connection with the incident.

At just before 11pm on 26 March, the victims boarded the train at James Street station.

Two women who were already on the service then made homophobic comments towards the group, before one them threw a full can of cider at them which struck one of the victims in the face.

One of the women then approached one of the victims and repeatedly punched her.

Officers believe the women in the CCTV images may have information that could help their investigation into the assault.

If you recognise them, or have any information, please get in touch with BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 790 of 26/03/22.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
