Wirral University Teaching Hospital launches new patient-friendly digital health portal

Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) has launched a digital patient portal to give patients better access to their health information.

Patients at WUTH who have upcoming appointments will be invited to join the portal through a text message to their mobile phones with details on how to register.

The portal will give them access to their health records, to view details of upcoming appointments and will have a range of educational materials as well as useful links to external health websites.

Patients will be able to access details in their health records such as weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure readings. They will also be able to access a number of test results and their outpatient clinic letters.

When patients receive the invitation to their mobile phone, they will access an easy, user-friendly registration process. Here at WUTH we place the utmost importance on the security and privacy of patient information. The portal adheres to rigorous data protection standards to protect the safety of patient data.

Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, said, “With the new portal we are making it easier than ever for patients to access their own healthcare information at their own convenience. This is part of our ongoing commitment to using digital technology to enhance healthcare services for our patients.”

The new portal is a key component of WUTH’s strategic plan to enhance patient involvement and the accessibility of our healthcare services.
