Wirral tips to stay open during second lockdown

Wirral Council’s waste contractor, Veolia, has said that tips and recycling centres will remain open during the second lockdown, which is due to end on 2nd December.

They state on their website, “We plan to keep Household Waste Recycling Centres in Merseyside and Halton OPEN throughout the lockdown period. Please only make essential visits and remember that strict rules remain in place to safeguard visitors and staff.”

Veolia also advises that anyone in self-isolation or with COVID-19 symptoms must not visit Household Waste & Recycling Centres (HWRC) under any circumstances. Additionally, households with COVID-19 symptoms should leave waste for at least 72 hours before disposal at one of their centres.

The number of vehicles allowed on site is restricted, queuing times may be higher than usual.

Cars only: Vans or trailers over 2m must have a pre-booked appointment.

Please ensure social distancing from others at all times. Site Employees will not be able to assist with unloading.
Normal winter opening hours are in operation – 8am to 5pm. However, if queues are excessive, traffic may be stopped from joining towards closing time.
