This is the Birkenhead News round-up of emergency services news in and around Wirral during the previous seven days.

Body of man found in search for Colin Edwards

Merseyside Police has confirmed that the body of a man found near to Arrowe Brook Lane in Irby on Monday, 29 January, is that of missing 40-year-old Colin Edwards. 

Officers received a report that the body of a man had been found at around 1pm in the area of Arrowe Brook Lane where he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been formally identified as Colin Edwards who had been reported missing on Thursday, 11 January, and officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.

Arrest as £10k of counterfeit designer goods seized at Twelve Quays

A man has been arrested after counterfeit designer goods worth in excess of £10,000 were seized in Wirral on Monday, 29 January.

At around 9pm, Merseyside Police were called to Twelve Quays terminal in Birkenhead after Ports Police officers had stopped and searched a white van which was carrying a large quantity of counterfeit goods.

The haul included imitation Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton trainers, Gucci and Channel handbags, Rolex watches, and air pods.

Wirral man sentenced for breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A Wirral man has been jailed for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Jack Roach, aged 21, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty at Wirral Magistrates’ Court to breaching his CBO after he was arrested in the Woodchurch area, where he is banned, on Saturday, 27 January.

He was remanded into custody for sentencing at court on Monday, 29 January, where he received four weeks for breaching his CBO and a further two weeks for breaching his post-sentence supervision order.

Man suffers laceration to neck in Birkenhead assault

Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Birkenhead in the early hours of Saturday, 27 January.

Emergency services were called to Conway Street just before 5.30am to a report a man in his 20s had sustained a laceration to his neck.

It was further reported the man had been assaulted during an altercation outside the Beach Cool Room.

Moreton pub burgled twice in two days

Police are appealing for information after a Moreton pub has been broken into twice with alcohol stolen.

It was first reported that The Mockbeggar Hall on Hoylake Road was burgled at around 5.25am on Tuesday, 30 January, and a male wearing a balaclava stole bottles of spirits before fleeing the scene.

Then, on Wednesday,  31 January, a further report was received that the alarm was activated at around 4.15am and alcohol was stolen. A male was seen running down Barnston Lane.

Next of kin appeal – James Huggitt

Can you help trace the next-of-kin of a person from Wirral who has passed away?

James Huggitt, 78 years old, sadly died at his home on Rudgrave Square in Wallasey. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Merseyside’s Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell has confirmed that a team of experts has now been appointed to market and manage the sale of the landmark station, which is positioned in a prime location just a stone’s throw from the city’s historic waterfront and next to Liverpool ONE shopping and leisure complex.

Following an open and robust procurement exercise, the Police Commissioner has appointed the consultancy and construction firm Mace Consult Ltd and leading commercial property estate agents, Colliers, supported by PLACED engagement specialists, to assist with the marketing and disposal of the site and to attract the broadest and highest calibre of potential developers.
