Man threatened with knives and hammers by group of boys in Bromborough

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was threatened by a group of teenagers with knives and hammers in Bromborough.

At around 2.55pm on Friday 14 July, police received a report that a group of three teenage boys approached a man inside his car at the McDonalds Drive Through in Croft Retail Park and threatened him with a knife and hammers.

The man reported the incident to police who spotted the suspects inside the retail park. As they were approached by police they ran away from the park and hid their weapons.

Teen sentenced for attack on Rock Ferry man who later died

A teenager has been given a 12-month Referral Order following an aggravated burglary after which a Rock Ferry man died.

David Quigley, 69, died three weeks after the burglary that took place on 25 October 2022.

Mr Quigley was discharged from hospital a week later on 2 Novermber, but died 13 days later.

8-year-old girl ran off after being approached by two men and two women

Cheshire Constabulary is appealing for information following a suspicious incident in Great Sutton.

At around 8pm on Thursday 13 July, an 8-year-old girl was sitting on the pavement on Northern Rise, Great Sutton, when she was approached by two men and two women. They spoke to the girl and took hold of her before she ran off to safety.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing. As part of their enquiries, Detectives are asking anyone with any information or footage that may help their investigation to come forward.

Dog seized as 7-year-old girl bitten in ‘horrific attack’

Merseyside Police has seized a dog and is appealing for witnesses after reports a seven-year-old girl was bitten by a dog in Wallasey on Monday 17 July.

Officers were called to Gorsedale Road Park just before 8.30pm following a report that the dog had bitten the child, causing bite marks to her legs and a laceration to her head.

The girl was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries, and has since been discharged.

Four arrests following protest at The Open

Merseyside Police has confirmed that four people have been arrested following an incident at The Open on Friday 21 July.

At around 12.20pm four people, who are believed to be members of Just Stop Oil, attempted to disrupt play at the 17th hole.

A small amount of powder was discarded onto the playing surface and it was reported that one person had a smoke pyrotechnic.

Birkenhead man jailed for County Lines drug supply

A man has been jailed for four years after supplying Class A drugs in Merseyside.

Lethobo Sithole, aged 21, of Birkenhead was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 18 July for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs – Crack Cocaine and Heroin.

The result is part of Project Medusa – an investigation into County Lines drugs supply in Merseyside.

£1m project to tackle anti-social behaviour gets underway

A £1m pilot project to tackle anti-social behaviour across Merseyside got underway on 20 July.

The funding has been secured by Merseyside’s Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell and will be used to launch a new project focused on ensuring those who commit ASB make amends as quickly as possible.

This may include completing unpaid work, helping to repair the damage caused, or going through a restorative justice process to make them better understand the consequences of their actions through communication with the victim.

Drug dealers sentenced following County Lines crackdown in Ellesmere Port

Two men who were arrested as part of a crackdown on county lines drug dealing in Ellesmere Port have been sentenced.

John Hodgin of Liverpool was sentenced to four years in prison at Chester Crown Court on Friday 12 May.

Christopher Tarran of Ellesmere Port appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 19 July, where he was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for 18 months.

Drone seized for violating restricted airspace at The Open

A drone has been seized by Merseyside Police officers after it was flown in a restricted area above Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake on Thursday 20 July.

There are currently flight restrictions in place affecting drones as part of the policing operation of The Open.

The restricted airspace has been put in place to protect those attending the event and assist with the security of the competition.
