Man jailed for 19 years for the rape of a girl in Wirral

A Northern Ireland man has been sentenced to 19 years for raping a girl in Wirral.
David Joseph McMullan, 32, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 11 November 2022, after pleading guilty to four counts of rape of a child under 16. He was also handed a sexual harm prevention order for life.
McMullan, of Demesne View, Downpatrick, County Down, was arrested in Northern Ireland in March this year and was later charged with multiple offences between 2019 and 2021 which occurred in Wirral.
Collision involving HGV and 68-year-old pedestrian in Birkenhead

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Birkenhead on Wednesday 9 November, which involved an HGV and a pedestrian.
At around 2.15pm, police received a report that an HGV had been involved in a collision with a 68-year-old man on New Chester Road near Royal Standard Way, by the Rock Ferry Bypass roundabout.
The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries, including a serious head injury, and he is currently in a serious condition.
Appeal following murder of Jacqueline Rutter in Moreton

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a woman in Moreton on Sunday 30 October are continuing to appeal for information.
53-year-old Jacqueline Rutter has now been formally identified after she was shot in her own home on Meadowbrook Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At around 1.45am, police received a report that a body of a woman had been found inside a property on the road. Emergency services attended and Jacqueline was sadly pronounced dead at the scene with an injury to her chest consistent with a gunshot wound.
Ellesmere Port man handed five-year Criminal Behaviour Order

A man has been banned from entering Ellesmere Port town centre after verbally abusing job centre staff and civil servants.
Timothy Finley appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 9 November where he was handed a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
As a result of the order the 32-year-old, of no fixed abode, is banned from entering Ellesmere Port town centre for the next five years.
Man assaulted with weapon in Moreton

Detectives have charged a man following an assault in Moreton on Saturday night, 5 November.
At around 8.35pm, officers were called to Pasture Road near to Moreton railway station to reports of a man being assaulted with a weapon, causing a head injury. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
John Leach, 34, of Bromborough has been charged with Section 18 wounding – GBH with intent; possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Man arrested as drugs and cash seized in Tranmere

Merseyside Police has arrested a man and seized suspected drugs and cash following an incident in Tranmere on Tuesday 8 November.
At around 8pm, officers on patrol in Church Road saw a suspected drug transaction on a footpath close to the Co-Op supermarket.
A man ran away and following a foot pursuit and repeated attempts to resist arrest, including assaulting an officer, he was detained. The officer sustained an elbow injury and was treated at hospital.
