Wirral man arrested following disturbance at a Mathew Street bar

Merseyside Police has issued an appeal for information following a disturbance at a bar in Liverpool on Saturday 24 June.
Officers were called to Legends Bar on Mathew Street at around 7.50pm to reports of a disturbance which had resulted in a 29 -year-old man suffering a broken leg. He remains in hospital.
A second man, aged 39, suffered an injury to the buttock area. Enquiries have established it was not a stab injury. He has been released from hospital.
Doctor suspended after having sex with patient in surgery

A Wirral doctor has been suspended after setting up a fake appointment to have a sexual encounter with a patient at his surgery.
Despite knowing the man he met was a patient at his practice in Birkenhead, Dr Marc Paton agreed to set up a bogus encounter to facilitate the pair being able to meet in his surgery to act out a sexual fantasy.
A Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service report revealed how Dr Paton also checked the practice’s database to find out if the man was a patient at the surgery.
Just 1.5% of bicycle thefts result in a charge

Just 1.5% of bicycle thefts across Merseyside resulted in someone being charged in the last 12 months.
Data revealed through a Freedom of Information request to Merseyside Police indicated how in 2022, 1,659 cases of bike theft were reported – around four a day. However, only 26 suspects were charged and five were given a community resolution or caution.
While the number of reported bike thefts has decreased by nearly 12% since 2018, the number of people charged or given a community resolution has dropped by more than half. The number of suspects identified has remained largely the same.
Dogs Die in hot cars

Please don’t leave your four-legged friend in your vehicle during hot weather.
Dogs can overheat really quickly, even with a window open, and with access to water.

Ellesmere Port man jailed for multiple child sex offences

A man from Ellesmere Port who sexually abused a young girl has been jailed.
Derek Smith appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 23 June where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with five years extended license.
The 42-year-old was earlier found guilty of 24 counts, including the possession and taking of indecent images of children, engaging in sexual communication with a child, inciting a child aged 13 to 17 to engage in sexual activity and multiple counts of rape.
Company director sentenced for supplying unlicensed door supervisor at Birkenhead bar

On Thursday 22 June 2023, a Birkenhead company director and his company were sentenced at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
Christopher Smith, sole director of Prenton-based Storm Secure Ltd was sentenced to a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months and ordered to pay £1,200 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £22.
The company was handed an absolute discharge. The sentencing followed the prosecutions on 11 May when Mr Smith entered guilty pleas for the supply of an unlicensed door supervisor to a Birkenhead bar and restaurant in November 2021.
Man sentenced for vehicle crime offence in Bebington

In a recent incident that took place in Wirral last week, a man has been apprehended and charged with a vehicle-related crime.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 21 when it was reported that an individual had trespassed onto the driveway of a property in Bebington. Once there, the man proceeded to test the car door handles of the vehicles.
The suspect, identified as Philip Taylor, aged 47, of Rock Ferry, was taken into custody on Monday, June 26.
