Today, Thursday 18 November, a 64 year-old Wirral man has been sentenced for historical sex offences.
Anthony Duckers, of Black Horse Close in Newton, was found guilty after trial of five counts of indecent assault between the 1970s and the early 2000s.
He was jailed today for 16 years at Liverpool Crown Court. He was also given a restraining order for life and a sexual harm prevention order for life.
Detective Constable Kevin Thomas said, “I am pleased that Duckers will now spend a number of years behind bars as a consequence of his actions.
“I hope that today’s proceedings will allow his victims to now move on with their lives and encourage anyone who has been subjected to a sexual offence to come forward and report it.
“Time should never be a barrier to obtaining justice. Merseyside Police takes every report of sexual offences extremely seriously, whether or not they are recent, and has dedicated officers within the force’s Unity Team who are specially trained to both thoroughly investigate allegations and make sure that those reporting them are properly supported.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure anyone who has suffered a sexual offence that if you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, we will deal with you sensitively and make sure that reports are properly and thoroughly investigated.”
People can call officers in the force’s specialist Unity team on 0151 777 1382. Information can also be passed on social media @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
