Wirral Council has announced that four of its services have been nominated for an APSE Annual Service Award 2021.
The APSE awards, which stands for Association for Public Service Excellence, are for all local authorities and their public sector partners across the United Kingdom.
They recognise frontline services or special initiatives, delivered to local communities, by local councils – and the staff who keep them running.
Wirral teams have been shortlisted for ‘Best Service Team of the Year’ awards in the following categories:
- Parks, Grounds & Horticultural
- Cemetery and Crematorium
- Sports, Leisure and Cultural
- Street Cleansing and Streetscene
Janette Williamson, Leader of Wirral Council, said, “I’m incredibly proud that four of our Council’s many fantastic teams have been shortlisted for an APSE service award.
“During the last 18 months or so we have all relied on our public services to survive and thrive, at times, under very difficult circumstances.
“Nomination is recognition in itself. As finalists for best service awards in four areas, Wirral services are already being commended for their efforts to deliver a high-quality service to the residents, day in, day out.
“I’d personally like to extend my gratitude for the continued endeavours of our committed frontline and behind-the-scenes teams and individuals, many of whom are Wirral residents themselves.”
This year, entries for the awards have been extremely competitive, with more than 320 submissions entered from across the UK. According to the APSE website, only the very best submissions have been shortlisted in each category.
Award winners will be announced at the end of APSE’s annual seminar 2021 in September.
