Wirral-based housing association Alpha Living is in line to win a major award after being named amongst the best providers of older people’s housing in the UK.
The landlord has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Older People’s Landlord’ in the annual UK Housing Awards.
Alpha Living is a dedicated older persons housing provider providing housing and sensitive services for people aged 55 and over with nearly 1,000 apartments across the North of England.
Its developments offer residents a place of their own to live, but with the security and company of a dedicated team of development managers and housekeepers and, in their extra care scheme, 24-hour personal care is also offered.
Its aim is to do much more than merely put a roof over residents’ heads and it works hard to create independent living, but with a helping hand for all its residents.
Alpha’s development managers make welfare calls to residents daily to check that all their needs are met, and residents can also access cleaning and laundry services and a range of stimulating and fun activities.
In July of this year Alpha was proud to open its first extra care development of 78 self-contained apartments at Poppyfields in Saughall Massie, Wirral.
The development provides independent living for people over 55 but with the reassurance of onsite personal care and support 24 hours a day if needed.

“We listen carefully to our residents and work hard to make sure we’re designing services based on their input.
“During the Covid pandemic we made even greater strides to support our residents with our development managers remaining on site so that they were always available to assist.
“We enhanced our regular ‘Alpha Plus’ services by introducing food shopping and prescription collection. We also transformed our regular lunch clubs into a meal on wheels service to support those who were shielding or self-isolating”.
Alpha has also invested in making its homes more user friendly, creating level access showers and bathrooms and undertaking adaptations using ‘invisible creations’..
