West Kirby restaurant and bar, Hickory’s Smokehouse, is marking its 10th Birthday by hosting a Southern state inspired ‘BBQ Fest’ for the whole family on Saturday 22 April.
Since opening in 2013, the BBQ restaurant has become a go-to spot for Wirral locals and visitors alike. Renowned for its exceptional blend of genuine BBQ classics, slow-cooking techniques, refreshing cocktails, welcoming atmosphere, and Southern-style hospitality, the restaurant in West Kirby has become a significant feature of the local community.
To celebrate the 10th birthday, General Manager Tom Schofield and his team have organised an authentic Hickory’s celebration for the whole community.
Inspired by a recent roadtrip to Austin, Texas, the ‘BBQ Fest’ event is designed to bring a true taste of the Deep South to West Wirral.
“I had the pleasure of heading to Austin last year with 18 others from across Hickory’s,” said Tom. “It was an incredible experience and we enjoyed a day at the BBQ Fest in Lockhart. We met pitmasters, tasted loads of barbecue, enjoyed the vibe & were welcomed like old friends. So what better way to celebrate 10 years than bringing a flavour back home for our guests.”
“We’ve got so much planned for the day including live music, a helter-skelter, bourbon tasting & hot sauces to try. And back by popular demand there will be the chance to handle reptiles if you are brave enough!
“There really will be something for the whole family and plenty for BBQ fans,” said Tom. “We hope there will be a real festival atmosphere and we are looking forward to celebrating with our regulars, neighbours, guests and friends from the local community and beyond. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our local community for all their support, raising a glass and saying, ‘cheers to the next 10 years’ to everyone who has helped us along the way.’
The event takes place on Saturday 22 April at Hickory’s Smokehouse, Village Road ,West Kirby, from midday until 6pm.
