Wellington Road Art Studios, now in its 13th year, is once again throwing open the doors for a festive “Welly Road Welcome”, that’s especially Made for Christmas.
Made for Christmas is sure to be a feast for the senses and six talented residents and selected guests invite the public to join them on the last weekend in November.
Experience a truly eclectic group of artists and craftspeople displaying beautiful work and handcrafted gifts under one roof, warmed by winter spiced apple juice or a tot of mulled wine. Artists will be on hand throughout the weekend demonstrating their processes and promoting future workshops.
Nestled in the heart of Oxton, this promises to be a great event for art enthusiasts and seasonal shoppers alike. All ages are welcome and admission is free.
Wellington Road Art Studios is located at 28A Wellington Road, Oxton behind the row of shops near Birkenhead School and St Saviours Church.
The studios are a hub of artistic engagement, and play a part in the creative community of Wirral, opening their doors for Wirral Open Studio Tour in the Summer as well as regular workshops throughout the year.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday 25 November at 11am. Studio residents will be set up throughout the building, keen to share their inspiration and creativity with visitors.
You can explore the individual work spaces and you’ll find that each area is unique, reflecting each artist’s creative personality. The event provides an opportunity to buy directly from the maker and to ask questions, gaining insight into how they work and create.
This year’s offerings include Gweni-Louu’s colourful expressionist paintings, carved porcelain and jewellery from Ceramic Organic, Marie Louise Williams’ intricate willow work and the delightful illustrations of painter Jan Ewing.
Jeweller and eco artist Alison Bailey Smith has an established presence on Merseyside’s creative scene and this is a chance to see the home of her wonderful creations.

Showing for the first time, will be new resident, Rima Salem, a printmaker and special guest, Ola of Softly Spoken Calligraphy.

Visitors to Made For Christmas can also ignite and expand their own creative practice as Welly Road are delighted to be joined this year by Kat of ArtFix Art Supplies, formerly of the Williamson Art Gallery. She will have a range of art materials available to purchase at a reasonable price.
Whether you’re seeking a unique gift or one-of-a-kind commission, stocking up on materials or interested in workshops, there’s sure to be something for you. “We all have creative abilities – come and discover yours at Welly Road.”
Made for Christmas takes place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November, 11am-4pm at Wellington Road Art Studios, 28A Wellington Road, Oxton.
