Wallasey and District Sunday Football League round-up, 4 September 2022

Wirral District FA Amateur Cup fixtures saw four teams progress and only one was eliminated in the first-round encounters.

Trident went through following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory after drawing 1-1 with Wirral Radio as Sam Bonner scored in normal time.

Vineyard eased home 3-0 versus Prenton FC thanks to goals from Ben Hawitt, Gary Winders, and a spectacular long-range effort from John Elias.

JASGA FC came from 0-1 down at half time to secure a 3-1 success as a Kevin Parr penalty allied to singles from Anthony Phillips and Ben Speed saw them through against Saughall.

Mersey Athletic also progressed after beating Woodchurch Rovers 3-2 with goals from James Broadbent, Danny Lewis, and Adam Walker, but Bromborough Athletic lost 1-3 away at Whitby Rangers and had only Cory Blaylock as their lone scorer.

In the only Wirral District FA Junior cup first round tie, Ellesmere Port Red Lions roared through to the second round after beating AFC Raeburn 4-2. On target for the Lions were Shea Turpin with a brace and singles coming from Jack Roberts and Steve Gerrard.

Two fixtures from the MES Ltd First Division saw a change of leaders again as PLCCFC won a seven-goal thriller versus Wallasey Wanderers 4- 3, in which referee Rob Allen said it was a great game to officiate. Scoring for the still unbeaten PLCCFC were Dan Hardman, Kieran Gregory, Danny Brown, and Paddy Carpenter, with Connor Jackson, Macauley Lathom and Callum Williams bagging the responses.

A very even affair between Liscard Panthers and One O’clock Gun resulted in a 3-2 success for the Gun as Declan Wray and Leighton Clarke with a double. Clarke’s first goal being a brilliant free kick. Curtis Ledsom-Robinson and Scott McMahon claimed the replies in a good game.

AFC Shore Villa retained top spot in the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division when defeating Wallasey Wolves 2-1 due to an own goal and a single from Connor Flynn.

West Kirby Athletic moved into second place after a well-earned 2-1 success over Bromborough Athletic thanks to a fine double strike by Nathan Leyland, with an own goal being the only response.

Despite goals from Ben Gledhill and Joe Dhenin, Oxton Celtic went down 5-2 to Farmers Arms who had Liam Pitt netting four goals and Callum Hewitt one.
