Wallasey and District Sunday Football League round-up, 28 April 2024

One O’Clock Gun claimed their second trophy of the season when overwhelming the battling Trident in the final of the Magee Cup.

An even start was soon turned into Guns favour as they netted twice in 26 minutes, with the only response being a shot against the post that drifted wide from the rebound. They then rifled home three more goals goals in the first half to leave the battling Trident shell-shocked.

They continued their dominance in the second period to completely out-gun their opponents to secure a 9-0 victory in fine fashion as the leadership of captain Chris Reilly earned him a player of the match award.

Yet again the only response was another shot that hit the woodwork. Jamie Edwards rattled home three goals, with Morgan Galer adding a brace and Nathan Johnston, Ben Morris, Carl Navarro and Ray Upton added to the Trident woes as they scored one apiece. Stephen Teale was chosen as Tridents player of the game by the Gun.

Two more trophies are on offer for the Gun as they chase down the divisional championship and the Wirral District FA Amateur cup.

Only one fixture took place in the MES Ltd First Division and this resulted in a 5-1 success for Wallasey Wanderers when beating West Kirby Athletic with goals from Matty Madden, Declan Netherton, Connor Bloor, Connor Jackson, and Mike Madden to keep them in the hunt for runners-up spot. Gabriel Cooper scored the lone reply.

In the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division, Shore Villa were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Greasby, but are still likely to secure the divisional title with only two games remaining. This was only the second league game they have failed to win but they remain undefeated thanks to goals from Sam Range and Connor Hodson, as Lewis Seymour and Jack Cooper netted for Greasby.

North West Harriers won a hard-fought encounter versus New Brighton Town to remain second due to a single goal scored by Dean Scott in an end-to-end contest.

Staying third are Barnston FC who overcame Wallasey Wolves 3-0 thanks to a double from Jason Stephens and a single from Josh Walters.
