Wallasey and District Sunday Football League round-up, 26 February 2023

Wallasey Wanderers dented the title hopes of Bromborough Town when beating them 1- 0 in the MES Ltd First Division and record their first victory in the league thanks to a single from Mike Madden in a battling encounter as both teams went for a win.

Despite efforts from Michel Mocha and Sam Bonner for Trident which could have put them top, they lost to JASGA FC 3-2 in an end-to-end battle. On target for JASGA were Jack Fletcher with a penalty, plus an equaliser from Conner Edwards and the winner coming in the 90th minute from Mason Piercy.

Magee Cup semi-final first leg action saw Vineyard take the spoils in a very even encounter as they stumped PLCCFC with a 2-1 success thanks to goals from Gary Winders and the winner from Ben Hawitt in the last ten minutes. Bagging the lone reply was Dan Morning with an excellent finish.

One O’Clock Gun had to be thankful of a first half goal from Jamie Edwards to give them a 1-0 win lead over Liscard Panthers that leaves the tie open for the second leg.

A solitary goal from regular marksman Liam Pitt earned Farmers Arms a slender 1-0 victory over Oxton Celtic in the Dutchman Cup second round with little between the teams.

Shore Villa also progressed after their 4-0 defeat of Park Royal as Mark Houston, Bran Thomas, Sonny Croft, and Connor Hodson found the net.

A terrific six-goal thriller between AFC Shore Villa and Shore Villa Athletic saw the latter edge home with a 4-2 result thanks to both Paul Reddington and Tom Rowlands bagging two goals each.

Only two fixtures took place in the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division and saw West Kirby Athletic out run North West Harriers in a 4-1 victory due to goals from Tom Cameron, Alex Wilson, and a brace from Seb Pierce, with George Redfern notching the lone reply.

Barnston FC also claimed the points in a thrilling 3-2 win against Bromborough Athletic thanks to Jason Stephens netting a superb hat-trick as his scoring ratio continues. Hitting the replies were Jack Whitby and Louie Holt.
