Wallasey and District Sunday Football League round-up, 19 February 2023

An evenly fought second-leg encounter in the First Division Cup was decided by a second-half penalty scored by Jack Fletcher as JASGA FC fought off the brave challenge of Wallasey Wanderers to record a 5-2 aggregate success.

After drawing their first leg match 0-0, PLCCFC progressed when beating Vineyard 2-1 as Danny Brown and James Murray bagged a goal apiece and Daz Winders claimed the late reply.

Despite two goals from Dale Crawford to record a 2-1 win for Liscard Panthers over Bromborough Town to level the aggregate scores at 4-4, they lost the resulting penalty shoot-out 4-1. Sonny James netted the normal time goal for Town.

Trident earned a 3-3 draw versus One O’Clock Gun in an end-to-end tussle, but lost 6-3 on aggregate as Morgan Galer fired a brace and Leighton Clarke added the third.

In the Dutchman Cup second round, a solitary second-half goal by Seb Pierce gave West Kirby Athletic a slender 1-0 victory over Ellesmere Port Red Lions to progress into the semi-finals.

Action from the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division saw Shore Villa Athletic leapfrog West Kirby Athletic, who were in cup action, to go top after a hard-fought encounter versus a battling Wallasey Wolves as Tom Rowlands scored the important goal to secure the points in a 1-0 victory.

Barnston completed a league double over Oxton Celtic when winning 3-1 with goals from Jason Stephens (2) and Luke Glover, as Casey Ford netted the lone response in a well-contested fixture. Thanks go to referee Shaun Byrne who stood in at the last minute to ensure the fixture was played.

Shore Villa failed to close the gap on Farmers Arms who moved into the top four after Liam Pitt netted a double and Kyle Ward a single to win 3- 2 with the replies coming from Sam Range and Adam Jones as they bagged singles for Villa in a fiery contest.

An enthralling fixture between Bromborough Athletic and AFC Shore Villa ended in a 2-2 draw but keeps Villa on course for promotion with James Outram being a two-goal marksman for them. Athletic had two-goal Rees McNulty as their marksman.
