Wallasey and District Sunday Football League round-up, 14 August 2022

The opening fixtures of the new campaign saw mixed fortunes for the new teams in the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division but there were plenty of goals in both divisions, with only one team being goalless.

AFC Shore Villa opened their Second Division account with a 5-3 success over Oxton Celtic thanks to James Outram bagging a brace and Connor Flynn, Ollie Galloway and Jack Gildsen all netting singles. Firing the responses were Chris Davies, Harry Sutton and Jamie Harrison.

A three-goal blast from Jason Stephens gave Barnston FC a 3-2 verdict over Shore Villa Athletic who had Charlie Roberts and Jason Farrell claiming the replies, but despite goals from Connor Joy, Liam Pitt and Mike Jenkinson.

Farmers Arms had to settle for a point in the 3-3 draw with Shore Villa. North West Harriers had a great start when defeating Wallasey Wolves 4-0, as Connor Reeves, Luke Roberts, Lee Doyle and Alex McDowell found the net.

A goal apiece from Jamie McNulty and Lewis Edge earned Bromborough Athletic a 2-1 victory against Park Royal and Ellesmere Port Red Lions roared home 4-2 versus West Kirby Athletic with singles from Zach Rowlands, Harry Brassey, Liam Sparks and Shea Turpin, with Dillon Thomas and Alex Wilson bagging the replies.

Vineyard went top in the MES Ltd First Division when overcoming Wallasey Wanderers with four second-half goals. Wanderers led 2-1 at the break thanks to Matty Madden and Macauley Lathom, but Vineyard stormed home to a 5-2 victory.

A lone goal from Mike New was not enough for Mersey Athletic as they lost 3-1 away at Liscard Panthers whose marksmen were Adam Chadwick, Curtis Ledsom-Robinson and Connor Walton.

Promoted Trident beat Bromborough Town 3-1 with efforts from Jake Williams, Mikel Mocha and Carl Navarro.

PLCCFC bowled over One O’Clock Gun in a 3-1 success that saw Matty Beaman bag a double and Daniel Brown fired home a single against the new boys.

A well contested Joey Griffiths Memorial fixture at the home of Cammell Laird 1907 FC saw Birkenhead SFL Premier division champions Rock Ferry Social defeat JASGA FC with some excellent goals to take the trophy.
