Victim seriously injured in ‘dangerous and reckless’ attack in city centre

Merseyside Police Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault in Liverpool City Centre.

At around 2.20am on Saturday 11 February, an altercation was reported during which a man was assaulted by another man on Church Street.

The 20-year-old victim suffered serious facial injuries and required hospital treatment.

The alleged offender left the scene soon after the incident with a woman in the direction of Central Station and got into a taxi.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said, “This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim seriously injured.

“This incident took place at a time where it would have been busy, so if you were in the vicinity in the early hours of Saturday 11th February and saw anything, then please contact us.

“I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the male featured in these images. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
