Victim left ‘seriously injured’ following attempted robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Halewood last month.

At around 10.30pm on Tuesday 13 September, a man in his 20s was walking on Wood Lane and as he approached the park area near to the junction with Wensley Avenue he was approached by three males.

One of the group assaulted the victim and attempted to take his mobile phone, resulting in him sustaining injuries including fractured ribs and bruises.

Witness, forensic and CCTV enquiries have so far proved negative.

The suspect is described as medium, stocky build and around 6ft tall. He was wearing a black ‘On Running’ tracksuit with reflective logos on the right chest and right hip area, with slim-fit bottoms.

The tracksuit was hooded and he wore black sports gloves, and was reportedly wearing grey Nike Air Max 85 trainers.

Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said, “This was a despicable act of violence which left the victim seriously injured. We’re hopeful that someone who was travelling on Wood Lane at between 10.30-11pm may have captured something notable on dashcams, or that there is CCTV or other information out there.

“We’re determined to do all we can to find those responsible so come forward and we will take action.”
