A Wirral community interest company (CIC) is holding a sponsored tyre flip from Wallasey Town Hall to New Brighton Promenade to raise money to support men with their mental and physical health.
Two teams of the organisation’s supporters and users will flip two 100kg tyres two miles on Sunday, 13 August, to raise money for Kaizen Wirral Mindset CIC a physical and mental health service for men.
This is the second time the organisation, based at the Wirral Wellness Centre on Price Street in Birkenhead, has held the event, with the teams raising £5000 last year for various men’s and military veterans’ charities in the North West.
This year, the goal is £3000, which will go towards offering subsidised mental health awareness coaching. It is support that is much in demand: while 77% of men polled have suffered from common mental health symptoms like anxiety, stress, or depression, 40% have never spoken to anyone about their mental health.
Darren Holmes, founder and CEO of Kaizen Wirral Mindset CIC, said, “We’re starting to see greater awareness of the mental health challenges everyone faces, yet the fact remains that men are still less likely to speak to someone about feelings of stress or emotional difficulties and less likely to seek help generally.
“Studies consistently show that physical well-being can have a massive positive impact on our mental health, so offering both in one service at Kaizen means we can help people get the support they need. To fund that, and offer coaching to those most in need, means raising money.
“Last year we had a great turnout for the tyre flip, and we’re hoping for more of the same this year.”

The tyre flip starts at 10:30 outside Wallasey Town Hall, finishing on New Brighton Promenade on Sunday, 13 August.
