Two men jailed for affray in Birkenhead

Two men have been jailed for their involvement in a large-scale fight in Birkenhead last year.

The fight broke out outside a bar on Conway Street in the early hours of 6th November 2022.

During the incident, a woman was punched and knocked unconscious, and the fighting continued onto nearby Argyle Street.

On Monday, 18 December, two men pleaded guilty to affray and were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court. They were:

• Ellis Price, 26 years, of Prenton who received 18 months imprisonment
• Jordan Hawkins, 27 years, of Rock Ferry who was jailed for 9 months.

A further two people also pleaded guilty to affray and received suspended sentences for their involvement.

Detective Constable Joseph Dutton who led the investigation said, “This was a violent incident where a woman was punched and knocked unconscious – thankfully she wasn’t seriously hurt.

“Following a long investigation two people – Price and Hawkins – were put before the courts and are now paying the price for their involvement in such violence.

“I hope this sends a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated on Merseyside.”
