Two men arrested following collision near M62

Two men were arrested after a car was seen driving at speed on Wednesday, 15 November.

Just before 11pm officers were on patrol and sighted a silver BMW travelling at high speed on Childwall Valley Road, travelling towards Roby Road.

Following a police pursuit the silver BMW was in collision with a barrier on Bowring Park Road, close to the M62 and The Rocket pub.

The two men, aged 44 and 36 years, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

Both men were taken to hospital where one man sustained a serious injury which is not life-threatening, and he is still receiving treatment. The other suspect sustained a slight injury and is now in police custody to be interviewed.

Road closures were in place at junctions 4 and 5 of the M62 at the time of the incident and are now reopened to motorists.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and for any CCTV and dash camera footage which may have captured the incident, to please get in touch to assist the investigation.
