Two crossbows seized from car in Liverpool

A male has been arrested after two crossbows were seized from a car in Liverpool on Saturday (11 June).

A grey Volvo car travelling close to Sefton Park came to the attention of patrols acting on information about drug dealing in the area at around 11.30am on Saturday.

The driver drove into the park where he abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

Officers seized the vehicle for examination and following a search, found two crossbows and body armour inside.

A warrant was executed later that day in Croxteth and a quantity of cannabis was recovered.

A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug (cannabis), possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Mike O’Malley said, “The dealers who peddle drugs do not care about the harm they inflict on the communities they operate in.

“They often exploit young and vulnerable people in order to line their own pockets, and can bring violence and intimidation to our streets.

“We will act on all information provided about drug dealing in your area. If you suspect people are storing or selling illegal drugs in your community, please do not hesitate to contact police and we will take action.”

If you have any information about suspected drug dealing in your area, please contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
