Two arrested following violent robbery at Otterspool Promenade

Two males have been arrested following a robbery in Liverpool which left a boy with serious injuries.

At around 4pm Sunday 26 November, police received a report of a robbery on Otterspool Promenade near Festival Gardens.

Two 15-year-old victims riding a Sur-ron E-bike were approached by five masked males who assaulted them and stole the electric motorbike.

One of the victims suffered significant injuries which required hospital treatment after the  E-bike was forcibly taken from him. He is now recovering at home from his injuries.

An investigation is underway and detectives who were appealing for more information issued an image of the stolen motorbike last week.

A 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man from Liverpool have now been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They were taken to a police station in Merseyside and later bailed with conditions.

Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said, “Although two arrests have been made our officers are continuing to investigate and find anyone who was responsible for this crime which left a teenage boy with serious injuries.

“We are appealing to anyone who was on Otterspool Promenade near Festival Gardens on Sunday, 26 November at around 4pm and saw this incident to please come forward. Similarly if you saw any of the men involved during or after the incident please contact police.

“If you have not already spoken with us please tell us what you know about this incident so we can continue to take positive action and remove anyone who causes such violence in our communities from our streets.”
