Two arrested and electric bike and drugs seized following incident in Everton Park

Officers working with the Merseyside Police Matrix Drone Unit have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of vehicle and drug offences, following an incident in Everton Park last night, Tuesday 26 July.

Officers ran an operation due to continuing concerns of anti-social behaviour involving the dangerous use of electric bikes in Everton Park, causing danger and distress to members of the public. Following enquiries, an address nearby was searched, and an electric bike, suspected drugs and other items were seized (pictured).

A 22-year-old man from Everton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs; dangerous driving and driving without a licence and insurance.

A 38-year-old woman from Everton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

Both are in custody.

Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said, “It is pleasing to see removal of another electric bike being used recklessly in our green spaces. The safety of the public is paramount, and we use a variety of tactics to tackle this issue. Drones are a safe and effective way of gathering evidence, including the anti-social use of electric bikes, and we’ll continue to employ them when appropriate.

“We have seen tragic consequences of illegal and anti-social riding of bikes in the past. This behaviour puts park users, road users and the riders themselves at serious risk, and we will use all our available powers to reduce this and to educate people, including those parents and guardians who buy and store them, unaware of how they are being used.

“If you were in the park and have any information, or captured anything on dashcam while passing, or other devices, please come forward.”
