Tranmere’s win streak comes to an end with draw at Salford

Tranmere visited Salford this evening for a 7:45pm kick-off, in their latest fixture of the 2021/22 League 2 season.

The fixture was previously scheduled for New Year’s Day but was postponed due to Covid and has been quickly rescheduled meaning the games are now coming thick and fast for Tranmere.

Tranmere’s winning streak came to an end today with a draw in this evening’s fixture at Salford.

Substitute Paul Glatzel salvaged a point with a 70th-minute headed goal from inside the box into the centre of the goal.

Salford took the lead at 29 minutes when Remi Oteh took advantage of a miskick from Rovers keeper Ross Doohan to place a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the visitor’s net.

The first half ended with Salford in the lead and in charge of the game, having had nine shots on target to Tranmere’s single effort.

Being on top form recently with a winning streak of six straight games, Tranmere were not to be disheartened by a disappointing first half.

Straight after the whistle at the start of the second half, an attempt on goal from Sam Foley was saved by Tom King. Just under ten minutes later, Charlie Jolley had a close call when a cross from Liam Feeney was met by his left foot, but the resulting shot bounced off the crossbar.

Following attempts on goal by Calum MacDonald and another by Jolley, substitute Paul Glatzel made his header count to bring the scoreline even at 1-1

After six minutes of extra time, the score remained at 1-1 as the final whistle blew.

Tranmere host Rochdale for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 15 January in their next League 2 fixture.
