Tranmere Rovers has announced the signing of Regan Hendry on loan from Forest Green Rovers until the end of the season.
The midfielder was an important member of the Forest Green squad which won the Sky Bet League Two title last campaign, appearing 35 times and contributing four goals and three assists that season.
Regan began his career coming through the ranks at Celtic before spending two seasons with Raith Rovers.
This season, Regan has again been a consistent figure in Forest Green’s squad in League One and has chipped in with one goal and four assists from midfield.
Manager Micky Mellon said, “We know Regan from his time with Forest Green last year, where he was an integral part of their championship winning side. He’s a skilful play-maker midfielder who is agile and lively, and will be a great addition to the team.
“The signings of Brad Walker and Regan Hendry mean we have significantly strengthened our midfield in this window, in order to try and make a promotion push. That meant that young Reece McAlear wasn’t likely to get as many minutes as we would like to help him develop as we believe he can. The loan to Ayr will give him that time, and hopefully he will come back to us ready to be a regular starter next season.”
