Tranmere Rovers triumphed over Bradford City 2-1 on Tuesday evening, courtesy of strikes by Regan Hendry and Kieron Morris.

In the early stages, Bradford came close as Jamie Walker’s curling shot hit the post just five minutes into the game.

Five minutes later, Alex Pattison created an opportunity on the right side of the box for the visitors, but Luke McGee skillfully deflected the shot over the crossbar.

Walker received a precise pass, giving him a one-on-one opportunity, but McGee made a sharp save.

On the 21st minute, Rovers had an opportunity as Harvey Saunders attempted a volley following a corner routine, but it sailed over the bar and into the Cowshed.

Tranmere took the lead just three minutes later when Bradford’s goalkeeper, Harry Lewis, could only get a palm on Regan Hendry’s strike from outside the box before it crossed the goal line, resulting in the midfielder’s first goal of the season.

Bradford remained a constant threat, with their former Rovers forward Cook testing McGee with a header that required a quick reaction save seven minutes before half-time. However, Tranmere maintained their one-goal advantage as they headed into the break.

The visitors levelled the score at 55 minutes when Cook nodded a cross into the net.

Five minutes later, Jamie Walker attempted an acrobatic effort from the edge of the box, but it narrowly sailed over the crossbar.

On the 64th minute, Rovers were awarded a penalty when Saunders was brought down in the box. However, Lewis denied Josh Hawkes’ spot-kick with a fine save.

Ten minutes later, Joe Yarney came close with a header from a corner, but Lewis managed to grasp the ball.

Rovers restored their lead at the 83rd minute mark when Kieron Morris found the net in front of the Kop following a fluid sequence of play from the home team.

Tranmere ultimately held their ground to secure the win, marking back-to-back home victories.

Tranmere host Grimsby Town on Saturday 7 October for their next game of the 2023/24 League Two season.
