Tranmere Rovers has confirmed that lan Dawes has today been relieved of his duties as First Team Manager.
Nigel Adkins will take over responsibility for the first team on an interim basis.
Tranmere currently occupy the 22nd position in League Two, just one spot clear of the relegation zone, following their defeat in six out of seven league matches this season.
Mark Palios said, “Ian Dawes got the team playing some attractive football but we haven’t been able to convert that into points on the table.
“Injuries have no doubt played a significant part in that, but football is a results game and I felt we needed someone more experienced at the helm to steer us through this period with a depleted squad, as confidence will be key.
“I would like to thank lan for his time with us, including his three periods as interim manager during which he won a remarkable seven games in a row, and I wish him all the best for the future.”
Football Commentator/Presenter, Nigel Adderley posted on Twitter, “This had to happen. Still plenty of time to make something of this season but getting away from the bottom the first aim.
“Adkins should inject some positivity into the dressing room and has the experience to find us the right manager if it’s not him long term.”
