A statement issued by Tranmere Rovers has said that the club is very disappointed to learn of alleged discriminatory comments that were made during the EFL Trophy match against Leeds United U21s at Prenton Park on Tuesday 4 October.
The statement said, ” The Club takes matters like this very seriously with a zero-tolerance policy.
“As a consequence of these actions, a supporter was removed from the ground and the police were called to deal with the individual.
“Tranmere Rovers understand that this behaviour is not representative of the majority of our fan base but will not tolerate this behaviour in our stadium and any persons found to be making comments of hate crime of any sorts are not welcome at our football Club or in football.”
The Club will be making no further comment whilst the police deal with their investigation.
