Tranmere Rovers hosted the third annual Paula Roberts Netball Tournament on Saturday 17 September to raise funds for Maggie’s Wirral.
The tournament, at Prenton Park Recreation Centre, saw ten teams take part in memory of Paula Roberts and raise £1,113 on the day from activities such as a raffle and a knockout shooting competition.
Maggie’s Wirral provides free practical, emotional and social support for people living with cancer.
The tournament was supported by tri-4-life, who had three teams playing in the nine-game competition with the four highest-scoring teams moving to the semi-finals and the winning teams facing off in the final.
The winners of the tournament were presented with their medals by Paula’s husband, Dave.
Liam Hanlon, Managing Director of The Forshaw Group who planned the tournament, said, “We would like to thank all those who took part for such a fun and memorable day – the officials and umpires for supervising the games safely; Tranmere Rovers for the free use of the facilities; Tranmere Rovers Managing Director Dawn Tolcher for organising the tournament; tri-4-life for helping with the organisation of the event; Diane, Emer and Sue for a great job with the raffle and Sasha from Maggie’s for supporting the event on the day. We look forward to seeing all the teams back again next year.”
