Tranmere Rovers has announced the launch of a new Diploma in Professional Football Studies that will commence from September 2022.
Developed, delivered and fully accredited by the University of Liverpool’s prestigious triple-accredited Management School (ULMS), the Diploma in Professional Football Studies is a world-first qualification that offers students the opportunity to engage with leading experts in the business of football and to develop their own football business capabilities via an immersive learning-experience housed at a traditional, English Football Club.
Dr. David Cockayne, Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool Management School, said, “We are pleased to be working with Tranmere Rovers, and are genuinely excited to add such an innovative, agile programme to our existing programmes specializing in sports business.
“Unlike a traditional academic qualification however, this diploma offers students the best of both worlds. Alongside being taught by some of the most respected academic experts in the business of football, students are afforded the unique opportunity to make sense of that knowledge by being fully immersed in an authentic football environment.
“Students will have the opportunity to learn what football business involves, why certain strategies are selected over others, and perhaps most importantly, how those strategies are brought to life and evaluated in real-time.”
Mark Palios, Chairman of Tranmere Rovers and former CEO of The Football Association said, “The combination of the renowned academic excellence of the University of Liverpool’s Management School and the unprecedented access to an English Professional Football Club, situated at the heart of the unique piece of football geography that is Merseyside, provides an unrivalled opportunity for those people who want a future in the professional game.”
The Diploma will have a limited number of places per enrolment cycle of 30 students, ensuring the highest quality learning experience.
