Tranmere had to share the points with Rochdale yesterday at Prenton Park, but extend their unbeaten run to seven games.

In a scrappy start to the game, it was Tranmere that had the first shot on goal. Unfortunately, Kane Hemmings volleyed his centre-of-the-box shot wide of the goal at 7 minutes.

Tranmere continued their attacking play and it was Hemmings again with another effort on goal at the quarter-hour mark, but he again failed to make it count.

Next up was Kieren Morris who had two attempts at goal; the first sailing over the bar and the second was blocked.

Rovers next chance was from Chris Merrie, aided by Josh Hawkes, but Merrie’s header wasn’t on target and went wide.

The deadlock was broken at 35 minutes against the run of play through veteran striker, Ian Henderson. Poor marking from Tranmere left Henderson with free space and neatly placed the ball past Ross Doohan and into the home side’s net.

Fortunately for the SWA, the visitors’ lead was short-lived. Kane Hemmings headed a quickfire equaliser past Rochdale keeper, Richard O’Donnell, just a few minutes later.

Tranmere kept the pressure on throughout the second half, including a fine-headed effort from Hemmings that was cleared off the Rochdale line by Rochdale’s Toumani Diagouraga.

Try as they might, Rovers could not convert their second-half pressure into three points and were forced to share the spoils in a game that they should have won.

Tranmere host Carlisle United on Saturday 29 October for a 3pm kick off in their next game of the League Two season.
