Two men and one woman have been jailed after a man was fatally stabbed in the chest just before Christmas last year.
Adam Fletcher, aged 28, of Liverpool was sentenced to 22 years for murder today (Tuesday 21 September) at Liverpool Crown Court.
Nathan Finnegan, aged 30, also of Liverpool was sentenced to 14 months for assisting an offender.
Demi Walsh, aged 28, also of Liverpool was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for assisting an offender.
At around 6.30am on Sunday 19 December emergency services were called to Princess Drive in West Derby after reports a man had received a stab wound to his chest.
North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to hospital where he sadly died.
Detectives circulated an image of Adam Fletcher after he attempted to evade justice for five days after the murder.
On Thursday 23 December, Officers found and arrested Fletcher on suspicion of murder. He was then charged on Christmas Eve. Two others were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Sergeant Tim Farley said, “This has been an extremely difficult time for the family of Paul Stenson who lost a father, son and partner just days before Christmas and we have supported them throughout this process.
“I would like to thank the witnesses for their courage in coming forward after this fatal incident and giving evidence that led to Adam’s conviction earlier this year.
“Not only did Fletcher fatally stab Paul Stenson he attempted to evade justice with the help of others and then pleaded not guilty in court throughout his trial.
“Those actions not only cost Paul Stenson his life, but also caused Paul’s family unimaginable suffering.
“Anyone who picks up a knife in anger, is capable of inflicting this level of violence on others. Reaching for such a weapon can turn what might have been a one-off disagreement into a life-changing moment.”
“That is why we proactively target anyone who uses weapons in our communities and why we can now see a decrease during the last year in knife crime.
“This result shows our officers will do everything in our power to continue to take anyone off our streets who uses weapons to cause harm, injury or to kill.”
