The Martin Gallier Project announce poignant Christmas event

Wirral-based suicide prevention charity, The Martin Gallier Project, has announced that they will be hosting a very special Christmas light switch on at Carr Farm Garden Centre in Meols on Friday 2 December between 6 and 9pm.

The aptly named, ‘A Forget Me Not Christmas’ appeal is dedicated to remembering those whose lives have been cut short by suicide.

The event, which has been sponsored by Ben Jones and the team from Carr Farm Garden Centre, will see a huge tree lit by thousands of lights in memory of Wirral residents who are lost to suicide each year.

Speaking about their involvement in the event, Carr Farm Director Ben Jones said, “We are delighted to be able to support the great work that the Martin Gallier Project does.

“By hosting their ‘A Forget Me Not Christmas’ at Carr Farm, we hope to enable them to continue their support for vulnerable people and look forward to the launch event on Friday 2 December.”

Jessica Gallier, CEO of The Martin Gallier Project and her team are asking friends, families and anyone affected by suicide to donate a minimum of £1 towards the lights, with all proceeds going to support the vital work of the charity. Donations can be made via the charity’s website

The magical event will also include festive performances from local singer Libby Crombie along with a selection of seasonal stalls in the main courtyard.

The lights will be switched on by local music legend and MGP ambassador, Andy McClusky, Lead Singer of OMD and a passionate supporter of the charity.

“I am honoured and delighted to be switching on the lights for the Forget Me Not Christmas event for the Martin Gallier Project at the fabulous Carr Farm Garden Centre, said Andy. ‘It’s going to be a joyful way to mix remembrance and celebration. Please come along and sponsor a Christmas tree light for a great cause”

The multi-award-winning charity, which has been responsible for over 18,000 positive suicide interventions since launching in 2019, was set up by Jessica Gallier in honour of her Dad, Martin, who she tragically lost to suicide a few years earlier. Her work and that of her dedicated team has made a huge impact both on Wirral and across the region.

Speaking about the event, Jessica said she was totally bowled over by the support from Carr Farm, and feels the event will be a truly magical way of honouring those lost, at what can be a very difficult time of the year:

“The Martin Gallier Project is incredibly grateful to be able to host this wonderful event which is so close to all our hearts. An event in which we can all honour those we have lost, but will never forget. A huge thank you to Carr Farm who have graciously donated their time and resources, and to Andy McCluskey who will be performing the switch-on. So, on behalf of all of us here at The Martin Gallier Project, thank you and we hope to see you there!”
