Teens arrested following knifepoint robbery at Upton newsagent

Merseyside Police has arrested three males on suspicion of robbery at a Upton newsagent.

Three boys aged 12, 13 and 15, have all been questioned by officers and released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

It was reported that two males entered a newsagent on Arrowe Park Road.

One of the suspects, who was armed with a knife, threatened the shop workers with the weapon and stole a quantity of cash from the till.

CCTV footage showed that the suspects ran into an alley next to a bar on Arrowe Park Road, where one of the suspects threw the knife into a bin.

No one was injured but the staff were left fearing for their safety after the incident.

Detective Inspector Dave Sung said, “To carry a knife and then threaten to use it is reckless behaviour which will not be tolerated in our community.

“Anyone who is working and trying to earn an honest living should never experience such violence.”
