Teenager attacked car with machete while mum and child inside

A teenage boy has been charged with possession of a knife, criminal damage and drug offences after a car was damaged with a machete on Lodge Lane in Liverpool.

On Friday, 7 June, at around 6.25am a group of males hit a vehicle with a machete whilst a woman and a child were inside.

The men ran off when officers who saw the incident stopped and chased after them. The officers later arrested a man nearby who threw the machete on the floor and was also carrying a bag of suspected class B drugs.

The 14-year-old boy from Liverpool was arrested and charged on Saturday, 8 June, with possession of Class B drugs, possession of a knife/blade and criminal damage.

He has been bailed and will appear at Merseyside Youth Bail Court on Tuesday, 2 July.

Detective Inspector Jemma Shaw said, “Merseyside Police is committed to preventing serious violence to reduce the devastating impact it can have on individuals, families, and the wider community.

“If you know anything about the storage, movement or use of such weapons, please come forward directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

“What you tell us may lead to other weapons being removed from circulation, and those communities becoming safer and secure.”
