Summer festival to hit New Brighton this week

The upcoming New Brighton Summer Festival, scheduled from Thursday 27 July to Sunday 30 July at The Dips, is set to feature an array of attractions, including talented local performers and a funfair.

The event organisers, Yay Wirral!, say the event aims to rekindle the nostalgic seaside town ambience in the area.

The four-day family festival is jam-packed with a lineup of free entertainment and many local traders.

Highlights include a mainstage with a non-stop schedule of local performers including Wirral’s ‘The Moaning Bible’ and ‘Mr Tumble Liverpool’ to ‘Wirral Rock Choir’. and local dance groups.

Street performers will include the Spiderman Stunt Show, Hungry Dinos and Peacock Cirque.

Yay Wirral! say there will be a huge Funfair including a Big Wheel, Pet Village, Independent Market, Street Food Village, Arts and Crafts, Sensory Zone and Story Tent.

Festival Director Kate of Yay Wirral has pledged to make the event neurodiverse-friendly. There will be queue skip wristbands available to individuals who can show a hidden disability or access card and who may find queuing and standing impossible to ensure speedy access as well as controlled noise levels, sensory breakout space, ‘plain foods’ available.

Thursday, July 27

  • 12.15pm: Mr Tumble Liverpool – with special guests Chase & Marshall
  • 1.15pm: The Disney Princess show
  • 2.30pm: Rock Choir – Wirral and Liverpool division
  • 3.45pm: Little Movers – Toddler session
  • 4.45pm: Phoenix Dance And Drama – Community dance group
  • 5.30pm: The Skylarks – Traditional Irish duo

Friday, July 28

  • 12.15pm: Mr Tumble Liverpool – with special guests Peppa and George
  • 1.15pm: Rock Choir – Wirral and Liverpool Division
  • 2.30pm: Melody Makers – Youth folk and pop ensemble
  • 3.45pm: Little Movers – Toddler session
  • 4.45pm: The Big Character Show – featuring Encanto, Spide
  • 5.30pm: Poptastic – and band

Saturday, July 29

  • 12.15pm: Little Movers – toddler session
  • 1.15pm: Stage: Children’s dance and drama group
  • 2.30pm: Pop Vox Choir – Wirral-based choir
  • 3.45pm: Joytime
  • 4.45pm: The Disney Princess show
  • 5.30pm: Wirral Drummers

Sunday, July 30

  • 12.15pm: Mr Tumble Liverpool – with guests Minnie and Mickey
  • 1.15pm: Wirral Drummers
  • 2.30pm: Joy Time
  • 3.45pm: Really Good Song Club – a community choir
  • 4,45pm: Melody Makers – Adult folk ensemble
  • 5.30pm: The Skylarks – Traditional Irish duo
