Staff evacuated as UXB found at Port Sunlight factory

Merseyside Police confirmed that officers were in attendance at Unilever in Port Sunlight on Tuesday, 21 May.

Workmen uncovered what is believed to be an unexploded ordnance device.

At around 4.10pm, police received a report that the device had been uncovered by the workmen. The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called and staff were evacuated. 

A police spokesperson thanked “people in the area for their patience and understanding” whilst the incident was ongoing.
