Sound Music Awards to celebrate Liverpool Music Scene

Independent local music company Sound Music Group launched its new project Sound Music Awards earlier this year.

When nominations opened, the aim was to recognise and build an inclusive community of musicians and professionals alike by bringing the local scene together.

Tickets are now on sale for the first awards which will be held at Hangar 34, Greenland Street, Liverpool on Thursday 3 November. Join this year’s shortlists, nominees and other local industry folk right in the middle of the action as we celebrate the Liverpool Music Scene and the industry efforts over the past 12 months.

The live event will feature the announcements of Sound Music Awards 2022 Winners, along with a closing electrifying headline set from Zuzu, plus live performances from rising acts Waiting Till Marriage, Paint Me In Colour and Brandon Tew.

The new event is open to the public and professionals alike, and will celebrate the enduring, creative and legacy-making music scene In Liverpool.

This year’s 11 award categories are:

  • Band of the Year
  • Artist of the Year
  • Rising Act of the Year
  • Song of the Year
  • Music Video of the Year
  • Music Venue of the Year
  • Producer of the Year
  • Promoter of the Year
  • Music Photographer of the Year
  • Music Business of the Year
  • Media Outlet of the Year

Shortlists and voting will open on 5 September.

Event Director Tom Woolman said, “The Liverpool music scene is rich with talent and it’s our pleasure to bring it together to celebrate the best the city has to offer. I cannot express how thankful I am to local industry and sponsors to help bring this event together”.
