Merseyside Police is appealing for information following reports of shots being fired in the Croxteth area last night, Wednesday 27 July.
Officers were called to Kynance Road following reports a gun had been fired in the street at around 6.35pm.
There are no reports of anyone being injured or any damage being caused.
It was believed there were three males wearing dark clothing and riding bikes in the street at the time. The bikes were seen to make off towards Parkview Road.
An investigation is underway and house-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
T/Detective Chief Inspector Cat Walsh said, “The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place.
“I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Kynance Road, Parkview Road and Willow Way at around 6.30pm who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us.
“I am also urging people to check CCTV or dashcam for any footage that may have captured the incident or which could assist with the investigation and get in touch.
“At this stage it does not appear anyone has been injured but recklessly firing a gun in a residential street could obviously have serious if not fatal consequences and it is vital that we find the person or people responsible and bring them to justice.”
