Detectives have issued CCTV images of two men who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following theft from a food shop in Liverpool city centre.
At around 7.55pm on Wednesday 4 December it was reported that a man walked into a food shop called OS Life Express on Bolton Street and was in an aisle when he asked for assistance from the shop worker.
While the assistant left the counter to help him, a second man entered the shop and took money from the cash register.
Both offenders made off and the shop assistant chased after them. He tried to detain one of the men but was punched in the face by the other man, and they both ran off.
The victim sustained a minor injury and was left shocked.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV image of two men they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said, “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who was left in a state of shock.
“Theft from a business is not a victimless crime as they have a huge impact on the community in many ways, especially small shops trying to make an honest living.
“I am appealing for the two men featured in these images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.
“We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident which will help with our investigation.”
