School introduces one-way system for school run drivers

New Brighton Primary School is introducing a one-way system for school run drivers and has asked parents and pupils to walk to school where possible.

Deputy Head Teacher, Mr J. Jones released a statement that says, “As I am sure you are aware, pick-up and drop-off times around school are very busy and can at times cause traffic congestion around the school site.

“As a result we have regularly been reminding parents to try and park considerately, avoid parking on the yellow zigzag lines and to walk to and from school where possible.”

The school has requested support from Wirral Council, asking for additional assistance through the use of PSCO’s and traffic enforcement cars.

The school is asking parents to adhere to a voluntary one-way system to run between the hours of 8:45am to 9:15am and 3:15pm to 3:45pm starting on 24 January. The system would require drivers to drive down Vaughan Road (towards the river), across Maitland Road and back up Dalmorton (towards Seabank Road).

Mr Jones continued, “Although this is only voluntary we feel that asking parents and residents to follow this between the stated times would ease congestion for all. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact the school office or your child’s class teacher.”

Below is a map showing the direction of traffic during the proposed one-way times.
