Rovers sign Kane Hemmings from Burton Albion

Tranmere Rovers has announced the signing of Kane Hemmings from Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The striker signs a contract at Prenton Park until the summer of 2024 after the Club fought off stiff opposition from a number of clubs.

Hemmings graduated through the ranks of Rangers and went on to enjoy a fine goalscoring season for SPL side Dundee, netting 25 goals in 2015/16 season.

He later had spells at EFL clubs Oxford United, Mansfield Town and Notts County where he scored consistently throughout those seasons.

Kane has been at Burton Albion since the start of last season in Sky Bet League One, scoring 15 times in 2020/21 and another five so far this campaign.

After signing for the Club, Hemmings said, “I’m very pleased to get it done, it’s been a long time coming but now I’m here and I can’t wait to get going.

“The ambition of the manager and the club’s position in the league was a factor in my decision. The club want to get back to League One and I want to be part of that.

“I’m a centre forward who gives his all and is an all-round player. I like to link up play and I like to think I lead the line quite well.

“The club is in second position at the moment so the aim is to push on and finish as high up the table as possible.”

Micky Mellon added, “We’re delighted to get in a striker we have chased for a while now, we’ve worked very hard to get him in.

“Kane is the experienced striker that we need to work alongside the three inexperienced, but very much full of potential, strikers that we have to play alongside him.

“He’s got the know-how and a very good goal scoring record, he’s a good athlete and he’s a physical and technical type of player, so an all-rounded player that we believed we needed to fill that role.

“It’s important that he’s here to complement the three strikers that we have at the minute and we’ve even spoken to Kane about them and he can help us continue with their development. It’s an exciting front line that we have now and it will hopefully keep us moving forward.”
