Port Vale v Tranmere ends in stalemate

Tranmere visited Port Vale this afternoon for a 3pm kick-off, in their second fixture of the 2021/22 League 2 season.

Before the match, Micky Mellon said, “I’ve enjoyed working with the players, and love being back at the football club. The lads have done terrifically well, I’m really pleased with where we’re at. In terms of performances, we’re learning all the time about bits we have to get used to doing in terms of becoming a team.

Tranmere earned a hard-fought point with a draw away to Port Vale this afternoon.

The match was not without a couple of scares for Tranmere, not least in the first few seconds, when only an intervention from Tom Davies saved Tranmere from going one-nil down, straight from Port Vale’s kick off.

Tranmere did have a couple of opportunities on goal, only to be denied by a solid home defence.

Rovers started the second half more positively, when Emmanuel Dieseruvwe expertly controlled the ball inside the penalty area and passed it off to Liam Feeney who failed to capitalise on his chance.

Tranmere’s best chance of the game came when Sam Foley crossed in to Nathanial Knight-Percival who headed just wide.

Tranmere’s next outing is a visit to The County Ground for their meeting with Swindon Town in their next League 2 fixture on Tuesday, 17 August for 7:45pm kick off.
