Merseyside Police is continuing to appeal for information after a woman was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision in Birkenhead on Wednesday 18 October.
At around 12.10pm, a collision occurred, involving a marked police vehicle and a Hyundai i10 at the junction of Conway Street and Exmouth Street.
The police car was travelling to an emergency incident using its blue lights and sirens at the time of the collision.
The woman who was driving the Hyundai remains in hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. Two police officers, travelling in the same vehicle suffered several serious injuries during the collision.
The incident was referred by Merseyside Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Sergeant Simon Duffy said, “We are continuing to investigate this collision which has sadly left a number of people with serious injuries.
We are supporting all those who were injured and I would ask for anyone that witnessed the collision, or noticed either vehicle in the area shortly after 12pm, to make contact.
“If your vehicle is fitted with dashcam and was in the area at the time, I would urge you to call us.”
