Police appeal following report of shots fired in Noctorum

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a report of shots fired in Noctorum this afternoon (Friday 5 November).

At 12.50pm officers were called to a report of three shots fired on Newark Close. No sign of damage was found, and no injuries have been reported.

It was reported the offenders were in a black Ford Fiesta, which was later found burnt out nearby.

CCTV and other enquiries are ongoing, and officers are currently in the area carrying out further searches and gathering information. Road closures will remain in place overnight in Newark Close and Ballantyne Walk.

Chief Inspector Simon Owen said, “There is no place on the streets of Merseyside for guns. Despite this incident, shootings remain rare in Wirral and we want to keep things that way.

“If you have any information on this incident, in particular if you saw a black Ford Fiesta being driven erratically before or after the incident, please get in touch.

“We will act on all information provided on gun crime to remove weapons and those who use them from the community. Please come forward with what you know, directly or anonymously, and we will do the rest.”

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage can contact Merseyside Police on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ quoting reference 0469 of 5 November.
