Pedestrian dies following incident on East Lancs Road

Merseyside Police has confirmed that a man who was found with serious injuries on Tuesday, 28 May, has died.

At around 4.50pm, police received a report that a 51-year-old man had been found with serious injuries at the junction of East Lancashire Road and Moorgate Road South.

A Home Office postmortem is due to take place today to establish the cause of death.

The man is still to be formally identified but his next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specially trained officers.

An investigation remains ongoing to establish what happened to the man and how he received his injuries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, and for any CCTV and dash camera footage which may have captured the incident or the male pedestrian, who was wearing blue jeans and a light-coloured top, walking along Moorgate Road South.
